High-performance steel-concrete mixture technology
The steel-concrete mixture is mainly used for columns, walls, and as a buttress against lateral pressure. It is ideal for Super Tall Buildings in that it takes advantage of concrete’s strong points such as compressive strength, fire resistance, cost effectiveness, and vibration-resistance while at the same time exploiting steel’s high tensile strength and toughness.
We are conducting analysis and experiments on outrigger dampers using the ANSYS and ETABS programs to widen the steel-concrete mixture application.

Structural analysis, instrumentation, compensation technology takes into account shrinkage of high-rise buildings’ columns
The concrete materials used in vertical columns may be affected by load-bearing pressure, which appears as slanting of slabs or cracks in the walls.
To address these problems, Lotte E&C developed a software program that can forecast the degree of shrinkage of the columns so compensations can be made during design and construction.

Development of large-scale diagrid structural design
The development of the diagrid system used to improve the structural efficiency of high-rise buildings has been a vital entry of national research agendas. The main focus of this research project is to discover optimal diagrid nodes through numerous rounds of experiments and analysis. In parallel with GPS measurements, we succeeded in creating a guidebook on structural architecture based on a one-on-one simulation model and registered a patent with the Korean Patent Office on the details of the diagrid nodes.
Wind-induced vibration control and usability improvement experiment
Due to their underdamped features and slender structures, high-rise buildings are vulnerable to winds and may negatively affect the residents’ comfort level.
To reduce wind-induced vibration, this technology lessens horizontal vibrations by following the control algorithm and moving the mass fixed on the building back and forth. We confirmed the reduction by applying the technology in a 24-story residential building and saw a reduction below the standard level of H-30 as set forth by the Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ2004). We have registered this technology as a utility model with the Japanese Patent Office.
